My team has set up a new project and created a form that has a lot of branching questions based on the request type. Each request type has some required questions, but users should only see the questions relevant to their request type.
When using the "Create" button, the form just shows all possible questions, and none are required. This makes it confusing to our users, who don't always know what information we need for their requests.
Our workaround is to share a link to the form and direct users not to use the "Create" button. The downside is that some features are missing when you fill out the form from a link: there's no popup with a link to the issue just created, you can't tag users in the description, and there's no "create another" checkbox.
I've searched around a lot and haven't seen anything about this issue, but I'm fairly new to Jira so I may be missing something obvious! Is there a way to have the "Create" button incorporate the branching behavior we built into the form?
Hi Heather - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Users should not be using the Create button if you want them to fill out the form correctly. They should go to the portal and populate the form in the right manner.
Hey @Heather Nygaard
As @John Funk says, if you have created a form for ticket creation, users will need to use the portal.
The create button will just display any fields that are on the screen it is linked too.
Thanks
Aaron.
