Hello,
I created a JIRA board and have some stories have sub-tasks and others do not. When I go to the board view, it appears like it's splitting them apart, or creating what looks like filters for each story that has sub-task. I tried creating a quick filter of issuetype=story hoping it would show just the stories (which it did) but also that it would prevent the stories with sub-tasks from "breaking apart" from stories without sub-tasks, but the stories are still separated by a tiny drop down arrow on the left. This is problematic, because if our leadership is interested in something that JIRA categorized as an "other task" that's in progress, they might not see it.
Why is this happening? Is this a filter, or can a filter solve this? Is JIRA actually separating them by sub-task and no sub-task? If so, can that be changed?
I'd really like a long list of all the tasks, not broken up in any particular order (see "Other issues" - how are they set as "other?", and why?)
Here is the screenshot of the stories collapsed. I can see these tasks at the top have sub-tasks with them. Then, there is a chunk of "other issues" - the only difference I can see is they don't have sub-tasks.
Thanks in advance,
Jen

You are seeing this because your board is configured to use swimlanes, and in your case it is using Stories. Take a look at Configuring swimlanes
