I have just purchased an JIRA license, and want to update the license fromt the current evaluation license.
Under the page http://localhost:8080/plugins/servlet/applications/versions-licenses I can view the license, but I cannot seem to find the place where I can enter the new license key.
I am logged in as admin, and I have restarted the server with no help.
See picture below for a snapshot. Where can I enter the actual key? I tried to first deleting the license (since I could see the trash-bin icon) but that did not help.
Thanks for any help

You have a Jira Software evaluation license currently applied. However you don't actually have Jira Software installed yet. This creates a problem, because you can't update the license in Jira for a product you don't actually have installed yet. The same is true for 3rd party plugins to Jira. In order to apply a new license key, you have to have that module installed first.
Making matters worse, the current evaluation license you have is expired. Meaning, you likely won't be able to install/upgrade Jira Software with that currently installed license key anyways. Could you tell us more about the specific license type you purchased? Is this a Jira Software, or Jira Core, or Jira Service Desk license? It matters which license you purchased as these are not interchangeable. Each can only license that specific product.
If you bought a Jira Software license, here is what I would recommend:
If you have a Jira Core or Service Desk license, please let us know.

Hi Andy
Thanks for your prompt response.
I do have "Jira Software" installed, and have been using it for some time.
I tried to follow your suggestion and "Check the trash icon next to your current license to delete this". But Jira does not allow it, since there must be at least 1 license in place.
I solved the problem as follows:
1. Selected the Download button (since it was the only option available).
2. Once I ran the install file, I ended up upgrading my Jira installation.
3. When JIRA tried to start, I got an error message since my current evaluation license is now for an older version of Jira - than the newly upgraded software. But at least, I got the option (through a link) to enter my new license key.
So, while I worked around the problem (through an upgrade), it is still a mistery why I was not able to enter a license key without upgrading.

Hi Jad,
I am not certain what happened here. But from looking at your screenshot, I can tell you at that time, Jira Software was not loaded when Jira started.
When you see this box, this is an indication that Jira itself is installed and running. However Jira Software is not installed into this Jira yet. Perhaps the Jira Software application components were not able to start up when Jira started, or another possibility is that this can happen if you just used the Jira Core installation file to upgrade Jira.
In this latter scenario, this upgrades Jira Core, but it cannot update Jira software. As a result you get into this state where the Jira Software product is licensed, but not technically installed yet.
Another possible work-around could have been to generate a temporary evaluation license for Jira Core and apply that here. You could do that on https://my.atlassian.com From there you can then delete the other license.

I am not sure I understood the difference between “Jira” and “Jira software”. I originally downloaded a single installation file, which meant I could install a server and create tasks, etc.
But anyway, upgrading/reinstalling Jira (software or otherwise) seems to have solved the original problem.
Thanks

Jira (or Jira Core) is the main product, which provides all the main things you need to run an issue tracker - issues, projects, boards, users, workflows, fields and so-on. It also acts as a platform for apps (plugins/add-ons) and Jira applications.
Jira Software is an application for Jira which adds boards, sprints, scrums etc on top of a Jira Core system.
The download you did was for Jira Software, which is pretty much a bundle of Jira Core and Jira Software, pre-configured so that (in theory), you run one installation and get a server running both systems off-the-shelf. It's easier and quicker than installing Core and then adding Software later.
