Did you mean:

jira instance url not showing the port number 8080

Deleted user January 29, 2018

I only have 8080 port running for jira software on this windows server , so wonder whether there is a way just type the server number, then go to jira startup page , such as -

server DNS name:  jiratest

in browser just typing in jiratest/   then go to http://jiratest:8080

Three options:

  • Run Jira on port 80 (which will block that port for all other services on that server, including a web server, and is a bit of a fiddle to set up),
  • Use a proxy - the proxy runs on port 80 and can refer to Jira on 8080 when asked.  This works really well with subdomains - mysite/jira, mysite/confluence etc
  • Get your network to reroute the ports

The proxy solution is by far the best one.

thank you, @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  option 2,3, would be beyond what I can manage for this moment, I only tested port 80 in server.xml, restart jira,  working for now.
