Why is there a number in parenthesis beside some issue status?

Hello @Jaime Laird

The values on the left are the names of the transitions that are available to get from you current status to the status shown on the right.

When a transition has a number after it that indicates that there is (or was) another transition with the same name at the time the transition was added. i.e. There was already a transition named "In Progress" when a second transition named "In Progress" was added to the workflow. So a number was appended to the new/second "In Progress transition.

Thank you! Is there a way to find and rectify this so that it doesn't show the number (and so that there is only one path to "In Progress"? For reference, this is what I see in the workflow:

Any place that has two arrows pointing to a status has two ways to get to that status.

An arrow represents a transition between statuses.

You can change the name of the transition by clicking on the arrow and then modifying the transition name that shows in the panel on the right.

If the arrow is from "ANY STATUS" to a named status that means that an issue can transition from any other status to that status.

If the arrow is between two status, like the arrow labeled Task Started, that represents a transition that is available only from the specified status to the specified status.

To have only one path to "In Progress" you would need to get rid of either the transition from "Ready to Start" or the transition from "ANY STATUS".

You will have to decide if you want to allow the transitions from Any Status or only the limited transitions, and then delete the ones you don't want.

Note that a status must have at least one incoming transition, otherwise you won't be able to change issues to that status at all.

Hi @Trudy Claspill

I removed the "Any Status" transitions and this now looks the way I expect it to :)
