Hi I have downloaded the 30 day trial version of Jira and Greenhopper at my new company. I would like to import some backlog items from a CSV file to give a good idea of Jira functionality when i present the product to my new company fro approval.

I cant find how to import the CSV file, nowhere can i add the option in Global Permissions. Do i need a full licence (i.e. not trial) for this functionality to be enabled?

many thanks

Hi,

The problem you are facing is related to JIRA Importers Plugin (which includes CSV Importer) not fully functional in OnDemand. That's going to be fixed pretty soon.

OnDemand hides the section "Import from External System" which includes CSV import functionality.

As the importer itself requires normal admin rights (which you should have for your OnDemand instance) you can trick it by visiting the following URL: <your OnDemand base URL>/secure/admin/views/CsvSetupPage!default.jspa?externalSystem=CSV

Then you can perform the import. Keep in mind though that users and projects created during such import will be just narrowed to JIRA itself. So if you use Confluence or other parts of OnDemand offering - you would need to create wiki spaces, Crucible projects, etc. - manually and also grant newly created users access to all the parts of the suite.

However if you just import issues into existing project and you won't create new users - that should work satisfactory without further actions needed from your side.

You may notice some broken or strange looking parts of UI (tabs), but that should not impact the import itself. We are working on fixing it for OnDemand.

Cheers,

Wojtek
