Hi @Jonathan Zhou

It looks like your screenshots are from a Jira Service Management project.

Natively, these don't have a Kanban Board, and editing the side-bar options isn't possible. There are some options though!

Project Type

Make sure you're picking the right Project type for you - for example:

  • Jira Service Management (JSM): This is for Service Management; Projects that require an outwards-facing portal - so customers can raise issues or requests to the team, both internal staff, or external customers.
  • Jira Work Management (JWM): For non-Software teams, this type offers a Kanban-style board, alongside Forms, Calendar view, etc
  • Jira Software (JSW): For software teams - offering Scrum/Kanban Boards, Release Management, etc

It might be worth trying different types to find the best one that fits your needs!

Board

If you choose a JSM or JWM Project, it doesn't stop you creating a Kanban Board for them - but, you will need to store it under a JSW Project.

To do this...

  1. Select the search bar in the top-right corner
  2. Below the results (in line with Go to all:), select Boards
  3. Press the Create Board button
  4. Choose to create a Kanban board
  5. Choose to use a board from an existing project
  6. Give the board a name, and select your JSM or JWM Project
  7. List the Location as a JSW Project - this could be a dummy one for example - such as "All JSM and JWM Boards"
  8. Press Create Board
