i want to use "Multiple sprints overview" dashboard template . How to configure and use this template?

This template is only available in Atlassian Analytics for Jira Cloud Enterprise (or Jira Service Management/Confluence Enterprise) with the Atlassian Data Lake connected and Jira data included in the All data scope. It isn't available in standard Jira dashboards or on Jira Premium.

What you'll see

The dashboard provides several useful sprint metrics, including:

• Committed vs. completed work
• Work carried over between sprints
• Sprint scope changes
• Workload by assignee
• A detailed table listing issue key, assignee, priority, work item type, age, cycle time, lead time, and the number of sprints each issue has appeared in.

Limitations

While this template is useful for historical sprint reporting, it has a few limitations:

• It focuses on reporting rather than planning.
• It doesn't provide a timeline or Gantt view.
• Capacity planning is limited.
• Team workload is shown as analytics instead of an interactive schedule.
• Epics and subtasks are excluded from some charts by design.

If you need visual sprint planning

If your goal is not only to analyze past sprints but also to plan upcoming ones, Planyway for Jira is a strong complement to Jira. Without Jira enterprise version, If you are looking to get multiple sprints details as a dashboard gadget, a mktplace app can help. If you are open to try out one, take a look at

Agile Velocity & Sprint Status Gadgets 

The app comes with dashboard gadgets to track team member's / team's velocity / productivity based on story points / time spent / issue count in a sprint  and also track sprint status with multiple parameters.

Thought the app does not show velocity on backlog screen but you can easily customize the sprints which you want to see right on your dashboards.

I have tried to add this App , the status is showing as added but it is not showing up in Add gadgets under dashboards.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community. 

What do you want to use such template? What do you want to measure, more exactly?

If your refer to this "Multiple sprints overview" dashboard template, as already explained, this is an Enterprise feature. 

An alternative to this, would be to create a Multiple Sprint Overview Dashboard in Jira by using gadgets provided by apps (add-ons) from Atlassian Marketplace. 

If you have the option of installing and trying an add-on, I would recommend taking a look over the gadgets offered by our Great Gadgets app. This app can cover many of the metrics displayed in that dashboard template.

For example, with the Team Velocity gadget you can get an overview for the past sprints, showing not only the average velocity, but also, committed, completed, added, removed, scope change, % completed, % added, % removed, etc

With the Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget you can also get all kind of statistics based on your past sprints. 

And the app offers many other gadgets that could be helpful for you.

If you can tell what exact metrics you want to track, I can offer more concrete examples on how to add them to your dashboard.

This is an Enterprise subscription feature only, if you have this subscription then:

First you have to enable Parallel Sprints in Jira, use-parallel-sprints 

You can also use this feature only with Company Managed spaces.

Your option would be to use a 3rd party app, to enrich reporting or dashboarding.

That template comes from Atlassian Analytics, which runs off the Atlassian Data Lake. It's a separate thing from the normal gadget dashboards, and that's usually where the confusion starts.

Analytics and the Data Lake it needs are Cloud Enterprise only (Jira, JSM or Confluence Enterprise), with a Data Lake connection that includes your Jira data at the "All data" scope. On a Premium plan you generally won't see it, which given your tags is probably what you're hitting.

If you're on Enterprise with the Data Lake connected, go Create > Dashboard > Use a template in Analytics, choose your Jira data source, then pick "Multiple sprints overview". Once it's created you filter everything from the controls up top, like projects, a sprint start-date range, measurement type (work item count, story points or time), work type and assignees. Epics and sub-tasks are excluded from the charts by design.
