Quick question:  I need to change pwd for delegated (Active Directory) login - just wondering if I need to reboot/restart Jira afterwards, or not?  And will a pwd change affect users logged in (am assuming not)?

Hey Doug,

You do not need to reboot Jira after making changes in Active Directory. Since the user details for Delegated directories aren't stored in Jira, you also won't need to do a directory sync for that particular directory configuration. Passwords are not stored in Jira for external directories, so Jira always checks the user's credentials against the Active Directory server when login calls are made.

Password changes in Active Directory won't affect existing user sessions in Jira. The sessions will continue for as long as your timeouts are currently configured for (30 minutes of inactivity by default if they didn't check the "Keep me signed in" box at login) and just need the new password at login.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi all,

nevertheless, you need to change the password of the user configured in the AD connection used for syncing, if you change the password of this user in AD. But still no need to restart the server or log out the users.

Best

JP
