Did you mean:

[companyname] has been deleted due to inactivity

JohnPasquet May 20, 2025

I just received an email that said [my company name] has been deleted due to inactivity.

I have been using BitBucket for quite a long time and push changes many times a week. However, I'm the only user. Thus, it's a free account, and I can't contact support.

Could this be for another app that I tried for a little while? The email says nothing about what app has been deleted or what it's all about.

I just don't know what this email really means.

[my company] has been deleted due to inactivity

[my company] has been deemed inactive after having no apps or managed accounts in the last 180 days.

In an effort to clean up inactive organizations and increase productivity, [my company] has been deleted.

If you want to see your remaining organizations, you can do so by going to admin.atlassian.com. The deleted organization (my company) will no longer be visible in Atlassian Administration.

If you want to keep your organization, we suggest you contact support within 15 days from receiving this email.

When you contact support, include your organization ID: GUID.

Hi @JohnPasquet

Recently our team has undertaken to clean up Atlassian Organizations that have been inactive for a long time.  These are typically left over after a Jira Cloud or Confluence Cloud site has been deleted.  Since the organizations are not automatically deleted when a Jira/Confluence cloud site is deleted, most have been hanging around unused for a long time after a Jira/Confluence site has been deleted.

I suspect that this organization name might match some other service you might be using, such as bitbucket, if that's the case, then I believe it's just adding to the confusion here.  As any product that has been active recently shouldn't be getting deleted due to inactivity here.  I hope this helps to clarify.

Andy

Thanks, Andy. I hoped that this was the case. However, the email just said it was deleted.

I've pushed a few updated to BitButcket this morning, so I'm assuming everything is ok.

It is a bit scary to receive an email like that, though.

Thanks, again.

Hi John - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This might be your Jira or Confluence (or both). Have you tried to log into either of those?

JohnPasquet May 20, 2025

That's what I'm hoping. I may have tried out Jira at some point. I just don't remember. I wish the email was more specific.

Yes, as a freelancer I worked in many different organizations. And the emails would not list the organization name nor the product many times. Very frustrating. But you are still able to use Bitbucket? If so, you should be good and just let the other die on the vine.

@JohnPasquet welcome to the Atlassian community

Does your bitbucket reside within that organization?  You could potentially have multiple orgs associated with your account.  I have escalated to Atlassian for you.  I would suggest logging into admin.atlassian.com to see what still remains and if your bitbucket instance is still there.

My workspace is called by the same name as the organization (MSHSAA). I don't see an "organization" specified on my account. From what Andy said, everything should be ok. I just wanted to be sure.

So, can you log in to admin.atlassian.net? If so you should see an organization there.

JohnPasquet May 20, 2025

There are no organizations showing for me on admin.atlassian.com. It says "Create Organization." However, I've pushed several changes to BitBucket today.

Do I need to have an organization?

haha, well apparently no for Bitbucket. Never seen that before.

Hi,

I just received the exact same message.  In my case the org name and capitalization are exactly the same as my current org which I've used just this past week.  I'm able to access both Jira and Confluence - is there something else that got deleted?  Should I be worried?

I'm happy to provide the org name and the org ID if that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Mike

Hi @Mike Soultanian

I don't think there is anything to worry about here.  Looks like you had a previous Atlassian Cloud site with the same name that was deleted back in September/October 2024.  That is most likely the inactive organization that was then deleted as a result.

Hello Andy!

I also got the message and I have a Trello account... I don't think my trello was under the same 'umbrella' because I see everything fine here on both Trello and on Atlassian page.. (I'm worried because the name of the org was similar to the one I use on my trello workspace).

Should I be worried about my Trello getting deleted?

I'm very confused...

Thanks

Mario

Hey @Andy Heinzer

Thanks for the info and the clarification.  I won't worry about this then.

Thanks!

Hi @Mario Nosoline

You too had an Atlassian Cloud site that was deleted back in June 2021.  These inactive organizations don't effect Trello in any sense.

When an Atlassian Cloud site (such as Jira or Confluence) is created, this also creates a new Organization to manage settings for users under those sites.  It doesn't directly affect your Atlassian user account.  Atlassian has just taken steps to delete the many inactive organizations that were not being used, and had no products inside of them.
