command shift 4 to capture image, drops into JIRA comment now appears as file instead of image

I was happily screenshotting away and droping images into my JIRA ticket comments, can then see and expand the image in the comment.

All of a sudden when i drop the screenshot in, it is in there as a file, and preview doesn't show. Even if preview works I don't want it as a file, I want it to view as an image.

Workaround is to right click on the little thumbnail image that appears for a few seconds, right click and save to clipboard, then conrol-v paste it into the comment. But this sucks.

Whoever thought this change was a good idea should have run that by a focus group.

I thought this was Atlassian, but the fix was:

Finder -> Settings -> Advanced -> check  'Show all filename extensions'
