Did you mean:

all space for the ticket content - remove sidebars

Wouter

I need my window space for my ticket but instead, most of the window contains boilerplate like "Assignee", "Reporter" and other stuff irrelevant when you are working on a ticket.

The left sidebar collapses to use only about 10% of the space (nice but still too much , please put this to the top instead of on the side).

The right sidebar ("Assignee, Reporter, Confirm your HipChat account) uses about 50% of my window real estate, or more if I would make my window smaller. All this prevents me from even reading the ticket properly.

I would like to have my atlassian ticket use ALL the window space. So

 *  Put less relevant info above or below the page please, so that I can scroll them out of view,

* Do not shrink the essential content! Instead remove or collapse in-essential boilerplate content when space gets tight.

Wouter,

This was originally in the Confluence collection, but I think you might be referring to Jira. Can you confirm?

Also, please let us know your version of the software and a screenshot so we can know what screens you're referring to.

Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I'm always mixing up confluence and jira. I'm talking about the atlassian ticket system

Even when on that ticket I don't see if it is confluence or jira.

Wouter,

Thank you for confirming. Indeed Confluence is our wiki software, and this is Jira. That logo in the top left corner is our Jira logo.

As for the appearance of Jira, your browser Window is much smaller than intended for using Jira. I would not recommend using Jira on a browser resolution less than 1024x768. Are you able to make that window bigger and see if it's more usable for you?

Even if I increase the width to 1000 the area for my ticket text is marginal. This doesnot work for me.

And I can add that I work with other ticket systems where a width of 800 is plenty enough for me. Its just that jira sidebars eat away too much space

BTW where I'm typing now, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/all-space-for-the-ticket-content-remove-sidebars/qaq-p/777125#U778020

the right sidebar DOES disappear when I make the window less wide.

I think it would be nice if you could do that too with the jira system.

I found one feature request that may interest you:

This is recommending the possibility of collapsing the sidebar while in issue view.

As for the right section, you can send feedback on it in the feedback form available in Jira Cloud by clicking on your avatar photo. This will go to the development team.

Let us know if you have any questions about that.

Sounds good. i recommend it too :)

>As for the right section

I don't quite follow. Is the right sidebar not a sidebar? Who needs feedback, about what?

I don't believe it's technically a sidebar, but a section of Jira. At any rate, what it's called is not important. However,  I wasn't able to find any existing feedback on the size of it, and I can say that it's been about that size as long as I can remember.

Per my recommendation, you send feedback via your Cloud instance. This then goes straight to the team that handles that, and they can consider your input.

I hope this is clear but do let me know if you have any questions.

Ok I clicked the feedback button and reported it there too.

Thank you for confirming, Wouter!

I was able to find the following documentation request:

It seems indeed the minimum resolution is 1024x768 but it hasn't been documented on our supported browsers page. That said, if you are not able to work on a suitable resolution you can try zooming out (CMD or CTRL -) on your browser.

Let us know if you have any further questions!

Thanks for the suggestion. But the letters are already small. Zooming out will result in unreadable text.

I can't see who mailed me this question but no, nothing has been solved so far. Only suggestions have been made for workarounds, and so far they did not work for me.

Wouter,

I am sorry I don't see who might have written that either, and it's not in my email history.

The only resolution for this is to use a browser resolution of 1024x768 or higher.

Thank you for your understanding!

Regards,
Shannon
