adding a name of the developer to the story when printing a card

is there a way to add the developers name to the story card before printing so it shows up on the card for our scrum board.

If you're looking for a more flexible solution when it comes to designing your board cards for print, then perhaps our own app - Agile Cards for Jira, might suit your needs.

Assuming that the developer is added as 'assignee', then you can simply add it to your card and adjust it's placement and format via the drag & drop designer. Example below - 



This can be done with all fields that are used within your issue types.
