a new server configuration

Hi,

Sorry for my poor technology expertise. We currently use Jira Premium and every project has been set up to whoever set up, and I am trying to establish some structure so I can report on the support requests vs project lifecycles ( at the moment its alot of work to figure out what is what) however we as a business have decided to just start a whole new Jira software package and build up the tasks and flows on a clean slate bases. But I have no idea how to go about it as I have quite a few projects that are running still and I want to prepare the new environments before starting projects on there.

Possibly migrate new ticket or ongoing tickets to the new environment as it is. finished.

Can you please advise how I should go about the process to first acquire a new Jira for business with the right domain name (currently using an old business name)

Hi @Anna Fadel and welcome to the Community!

Setting up a new site is very easy. You can just navigate to https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/free and start a free trial there. You can try any cloud plan (free / standard / premium) for 30 days before you will be billed for the site.

Before you do so (or during your trial), you may want to consider reaching out to Atlassian support to discuss what you should do with your old site. I can imagine your company is paying for that and is probably considering to shut that one done and do so in a clean and orderly fashion.

Lastly, it seems that things got a bit out of control in your previous site. Starting a new site may be a good idea, but as you clearly state you would like to avoid the mistakes from the past, it may be worth considering to involve a solution partner to set you up on the right track. You can find a partner near you using the Atlassian Partner Directory!

Hope this helps!

+1 on @Trudy Claspill's suggestion to consider first if you want to keep your current Atlassian Organisation as the home for your new site.

Thank you, Walter. I will test this out in the next days and get back to you!

Thank you so much for your help :)

Hello @Anna Fadel

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

If you want to create a new Jira instance within your existing Organization, giving the new Jira instance a new name (i.e. https://somethingNew.atlassian.net) that also is an option which can be executed by an Organization Admin for you Organization. They would do that by going to https://admin.atlassian.com, selecting Products, and then clicking the button to Add Product. The wizard then steps you through creating a new Site for the product or adding a new product to an existing Site in your Organization.

https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/add-a-new-product-to-your-organization/

I would recommend this method (new product/site within your current Organization) so you can leverage what you currently have set up for Organization level settings.

If for some reason you need to make a clean break from your current Organization settings, then on each of the Atlassian product pages you can find a "start your free trial" button. Example:

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira

By clicking that button you will be walked through the process of creating a new Organization with a new Site for your Jira new Jira instance.

Either method above will give you a limited duration free trial. You will need to select your Subscription option (i.e. Standard vs. Premium) and enter payment information to go beyond the free trial.

Hi Trudy, that is exactly what I need to do, a new instance name, I tried following your steps but I don't have the option to "add product", I am an admin and been given full organizational tasks.

Thank you so much for your help!!

You may be a Site administrator but not an Organization Administrator. You would need to be an Organization Administrator to add a new Product to the Organization.

Can you show us what you see on that Products screen? An Org Admin should see something like this:
