a different kind of duplicate

We will need the ability to make something a duplicate of something else. However, we need something more than duplicate/resolved.

What we are looking for, is to mark a jira ticket a duplicate of the other jira ticket, and when the original changes status the duplicate also reflects the same status.

You want to change the status of a linked ticket? If so you'll need a addon like Jira toolbox or scriptrunner...
