Our organization has a valid production license for Jira 8.5.4.

I would like to restore Jira 4.0 XML backup on Jira 8.5.4.

First of all, I updated according to

4.0 -> 4.3 -> 6.4.14 -> 7.0.11 -> 8.5.4

When I updated Jira from 6.4.14 to 7.0.11 I could not start Jira Server.

The error: "You have not entered a license".

Is it possible to generate a trial license to install the license using command line without web UI? Where does Jira keep the license on disk? How can I get the PRODUCT KEY to generate a new trial license?

Hello @marat_kashapov

Welcome to the Atlassian Community. Sorry to hear you are facing this problem.

Checking previous reports about this error, this typically happens because one or more of the Jira applications licenses (Jira Core, Jira Software, and/or Jira Service Desk) is expired at the time of this upgrade.

That being said, I suggest you follow the steps of the documentation below to properly troubleshoot what is the missing license and properly update it:

Manage Jira server license using database queries

P.S: Make sure to back up your data before performing any modification to the database.

Let us know if that helps.
