I created a workflow in the project, but it doesn't show up in the Workflow schemes. Do I need to recreate the workflow in the schemes or is there a way to transfer?
You say "The workflow was built in the project under configure/edit workflow.", and it's shown in your screenshot too.
Both of these suggest you are working in a team-managed project, which do not create workflows, the workflow is done all inside the project you build it in.
For an issue to be considered "done" by most things in Jira, it has to have a resolution set. The exception to that is on Software boards, where "done" is "issue is in the last column on the board"

After creating a new Workflow, you can add it to an new or existing Workflow Scheme.

When I go into the project settings, there is no workflow option. The workflow was built in the project under configure/edit workflow. I was trying to take that hand built workflow and get it into the workflow schemes.

Are your project a company managed or team managed one? Please could you share the project setting related to your workflow?

I am the only user right now and am setting up a demonstration for our company to take on the software long-term. The project I set up was a team-managed project just to get information loaded. Do I need to transition to a company managed project to have the capabilities?

This all started because my customized workflow in my project when put into a customized "done status", does not close the issue tickets. They show the "done status" but when running reports they are not closed.
