Hi
I'm working on a Jira workflow and need help setting up a validation rule for the transition to "Completed".
We have a custom field called "Business Benefits" with dropdown options like:
When one or more of these options are selected, users are required to provide additional input (text or a value) for each selected benefit. We want to prevent the issue from transitioning to "Completed" unless all required fields related to the selected Business Benefits are properly filled out.
Where it’s getting more complex:
If a user selects multiple options (e.g., Volume and Cost 1), we’re seeing multiple “Completed” statuses appear during the transition — like “Volume - Completed” and “Cost 1 - Completed.” This seems to be causing confusion and interfering with the validation logic.
Has anyone dealt with this kind of conditional validation before, especially when multiple selections are involved? We’re struggling to get the workflow to work.
Any advice, examples, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Welcome to the community.
Can you provide screenshots of the work flow and the transition and its conditions(s).
This will help to see how you have implemented this and give community members the technical details next to your outline of the requirement you present here.
Use the Old Workflow editor to achieve this. (press the 3 dots and switch editor.)
