Hello all,
I am trying to understand the 'Any' label and the transitions used in a Jira workflow. Could someone point me to some good docs? I don't have access to modify our workflow but I can see it and would like to understand it. I don't understand the use of 'Any' and the lightning bolts particualy.
Hi Christopher,
The "Any" label refers to the transition being available from every other status, so from every other status you can go to Resolved or Cancelled in this example.
The lightning bolts indicates that there is a rule defined on that transition, meaning there might be a validator, condition ... etc on this transition.
The documentation of the workflow editor might help:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/what-is-the-new-workflow-editor/
Hope this helps!
Is 'Any' directional? Does it depend on the line it is attached to like
or is it only related to the status?

Don't really get the question. Any is form Any status to what status it is pointing to.

Ok that makes sense. Any is always 'Inbound' for what it is pointed at. In this image it is a bit hard to tell but it seems all the Any's are tagged on the right of what they are connected to. It's offset toward Unassigned here. So here I can move to 'Unassigned' from 'Any' state. My Jira work item state availability verifies this.

Thanks for the help. It's all much clearer now. I also found out that the Any is a checkbox on the status itself. I think I am good to go!
