Last I checked there was not a clear or at least well working method for scanning and updating Assets within Jira.
With other software this is usually done by installing an agent on each endpoint and the agent will update directly to the Asset Mgmt Tool.
We use JSM daily and having Assets integrated is amazing but currently, we are left running a daily scan on the two days we are in the office, that of course only picks up devices currently on the network.
Is there a current method for getting over this problem and better yet, is there any known progress on if agents will be released at all?
Thanks!
You have a few options:
1. The out of the box, free option is to use Atlassian's free Atlassian Discovery app, have that import into a schema, and then use that schema as a source for Asset Data Manager to populate into another schema/clean up the data, etc.
2. Lansweeper can have agents installed and scan your devices. I am not sponsored by them, but I have used it and it does the trick. The tool itself costs, but using their free app, that imports the data into assets.
3. Intune and other MDMs have this functionality out of the box.
Thanks for the response!
I have considered the likes of Lansweeper and we have Intune, Defender etc so we are all okay I suppose when it comes to keeping track remotely in that sense.
More so just wondering if there was a specific Jira Assets agents as we use Assets for keeping on top of end user devices, even ones that aren't enrolled/unbuilt etc. We use the integration of this into JSM which is great!
I may have to look into using what we already have (like Intune) to import regularly into Assets which is okay, was just hoping for an Assets agent directly with Atlassian/Jira Thanks!
