Wiki style renderer not applying

Hi,

I have applied a wiki style renderer to a custom field text field (multi-line) in field configurations but when I try to use wiki markup in this field it isn't carrying through. Why could this be?

Are you 100% sure that

1.  Your markup is correct?  (Try a simple one - a word with an asterisk * at each end for bold and spaces either side)
2. Your field configuration for that project AND issue type is set correctly?
