Why is the estimate now showing up on board

I have estimates in the subtasks but somehow they don't show up.

Hi @ana and welcome to the Community!

This is a common pitfall indeed in the way how Jira works. Your estimates should always be at the parent level (so on your stories or tasks) and not on your sub-tasks. Jira does not take those into account.

The checkbox that says include sub-tasks will consider the time spent from your sub-tasks, but not the estimates.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Scrum does not say anything about sub-tasks, it only looks at sprint items.  In Jira, sub-tasks are a fragment of a larger piece (the story), so putting estimates on them makes little sense.  Jira only looks at the sprint items.

Kanban is similar - it doesn't do sub-tasks at all, so if you create them, they look like individual items.  And, the estimate is by card count, not time or points.
