I'm using a company-managed project and have activated the feature panel (this is called epic panel in my team-managed project).
The features shown in this panel is all the parents to my user stories. However, if I want to add a parent to an existing story in my e.g backlog or sprint and I hoover over the card (backlog view), it show +Epic.
If I use this + Epic I will actually add a new feature in the feature panel.
To me this is very confusing. I tried to change the naming of my Epics to Features but that does not change the "hoover name" on the card.
And going the other way around - changing Features to Epics, still leaves me with the panel being named Feature panel.
Am I doing something wrong?
Hi Sara - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Has someone renamed the Epic issue type to Feature?
Adding to this...
It is possible as @John Funk says that somebody has changed the name of the built in Epic issue to Feature at a global level. That change would affect only Company Managed projects, not Team Managed projects.
When such a change has been made, many places where "Epic" is shown on the screen get updated to the new name applied to that issue type. The "Epic" panel is one such location that gets updated.
It appears that the +Epic button that appears inline in the cards is not one of the places that gets updated.
If you change the name of your built in Epic issue to Feature and then back again to Epic, that should change the panel name back to Epic also.

Thank you for your input.
I've now changed the name to Epic here (it was called feature previosusly), however, it has not changed the naming of the "Feature panel"

I've now tried both but unfortunately no change in the naming of the panel.

I would open up a Support ticket with Atlassian then. Please post the resolution back here.

Good luck!

The panel name that I can see on the backlog is the name of the top hierarchy level. This hierarchy level is named Epic by default and hence the panel name is Epic, but my instance, it was named Feature.
I've now changed it to Epic and hence the panel name is now called Epic as I wanted.
