Some context for the issue:
As stories are completed, we move work into the 'Done' column.
When a new sprint begins, any work previously completed is being carried over into the new sprint (and remains marked as 'Done').
The solution of this particular issue was making sure that our project was using the same 'Resolved' (rather than 'Done') status for completed work (which the other project was using).
What is the status of the "completed" Stories that are being carried over? - DONE or CLOSED or Both?
Can you tell me what the color of the DONE and CLOSED status indicators are in the workflow? (Yellow, blue, grey, green)?

Ok. Are there any sub-tasks for these stories that aren't closed?

No subtasks. I realize that I did not share a potentially critical piece of info in the original post.
Managing the sprint (complete/start new) is actually done through a different Jira project than the one that the team operates within.
Our Product Design sprints are tied to Development project sprints.
Would a mismatch in workflows between projects be the culprit? The Development 'Done' column does not include a 'Done' status item.

I think in such a case, the Sprint cannot be entirely "managed" from another project. Try this, go to the project which the teams works in and setup the board for the past Sprint with the respective stories in done column and close the Sprint in that project. See if that resolves the issue and automatically fixed your view in the other project as well.

The board only considers the far right column to be "done". You need the issues to be in the last column when you close the sprint.
