I know that in order to delete multiple issues, one has to use the bulk edit feature. My question is why?
Given that one can highlight multiple issues and bulk assign them to a sprint or bulk add flag via the right click menu, it seems adding a delete function would be fairly trivial.
The bulk-edit functions were built for things that people generally won't do a lot. Or more to the point, should not be doing a lot.
You should not have a good reason to delete multiple issues outside housekeeping, which should be infrequent. So there's no reason to clutter up menus with options that people shouldn't need most of the time (Arguably, you shouldn't be deleting issues at all, as it's a nightmare that usually comes back to bite Jira admins - the standard advice on delete is "don't allow it")
Assigning many issues into a sprint or setting a flag on them is a day-to-day action, bulk change is not.
