Why is Jira is asking users to reauthenticate as they are using the application in the last week?

We have been using Jira Cloud for over 3 years, and in the last few weeks it has been asking users to reauthenticate as they are using the application.  Was there a change that requires users to log back in more frequently?

There appears to be an open incident that Atlassian has been working on since 19 April.  As they are working on it people can be logged out.  Please look here to learn about the status of the incident: https://jira-software.status.atlassian.com/
