Why dont I see "issue key" (mapping process) during excel import?

I have existing issues in jira. I need to modify the descriptions via excel import.  After doing some reading, jira documentation (screen shot also below) mentions to use the "issue key" for mapping. By doing so, it will help me modify existing issues (and not create new issues".

The problem is, I do not see "issue key" at all. Do I need to be an admin, or does the issue key have a new name? On the forum, someone mentioned its called "key" but I couldnt even find that.

I appreciate your help.

Hi Ardian,

The field is simply called Key in Jira.

strange, because I don't even see "key" in the mapping.

I tried to do..

  • issue id
  • summary
  • description

but I get an error, its acting as if I am trying to create an initiative, which I am NOT trying to do.

@John Funk have you ever modified existing issues in jira from excel before?

It should be showing - I do not know why it is not. I have definitely imported and updated existing issues before. It looks like a bug to me.

I would open a support ticket with Atlassian. Please post back here with the resolution.
