I'm trying to figure out why i cannot add/link Sprints into a Version.
In the agile development process, we went through a few Sprints to build a releaseable version. But in Jira, why cannot i put these Sprints into the Version?
There're close relations between Sprints and Version, but in Jira, they're are totally independent items which can't be assigned to each other.
That's confused me!
In Agile, sprints and versions do not have any direct relationship either. A sprint might lead to a version, but it might produce things that could be in several versions, or none, as well. A sprint, ideally, should produce one or many "potentially useful things", but that does not mean a "version" as Jira defines them. In fact, it's the other way around - I would expect a sprint with X stories produce X+1 versions at the absolute minimum. And one version could also be created over many sprints.
A version is something you put on an issue, either to say where you found the issue, or where you dealt with the issue. A sprint is the timebox where you work on the issue. So I really struggle with "sprint in a version" as a concept.
If you want to "put sprints into a version", you're going to need to define how you want to define that relationship so we can work out how best to implement it in Jira
