Why can't I see my Active Sprint tab, and why do I seem to lack so many features?

Hello everyone. I've created a mock agile scrum project for learning Jira. However, I'm really confused because none of the tutorials seem to have the same layout as I. I don't have an "Active sprint"-tab on the left at all, even though I have an active sprint. This means that all I can do is to either look at my Backlog or my Board. 

Some people on a forum were talking about a "Teams" tab and assigning a team to a project, and I seem to lack that one as well. I created a Team! ...Somewhere. I can't find it and I don't know what to do with it.

I just feel really limited and all the answers on the internet consists of "Click on <something I don't even have>". I hope someone can help.

Welcome to the community.

It appears to me that you have created a Team Managed Software project vs. a Company Managed Software project. At the bottom of the navigation pane on the left it will say either "team managed" or "company managed".

For a Team Managed project there is no Active Sprints  option. In a Company Managed project when you click the Active Sprints option all it does is show you the Board with all the Active Sprints content displayed. In a Team Managed project all you have to do is click the Board option to get the same result.

I don't know what tutorials you're viewing, but be advised that the functionality of Company Managed projects vs. Team Managed projects is very different. Here is a page that will help you start learning about the differences:
