Why can't I add a project to an existing Jira Plan?

Lisa Ferguson August 4, 2025

Since the change in navigation, I have tried to add an additional project as a source in my Jira Plan.

I went to Plan Settings > Work in your plan > Edit plan scope > Add or remove work

It let's me select Project from the drop-down and the project I want to add, but after I click Save it does not add the Project to my Plan.

Hello @Lisa Ferguson

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Do you get any sort of error message?

Have you refreshed the browser tab?

How many things (boards, projects, etc.) are in your plan scope already?

What is the project type of the project you are trying to add?

Hi @Trudy Claspill

No error message. Once I click Save the Add or remove pane closes but the action does not take effect

I have refreshed browser and even done a full restart

There are currently 6 projects in the plan already - 1 is JPD and the other 5 are Jira Software

The project I'm trying to add is also Jira Software

Hm, have you ever worked with the browser Development Tools before? Sometimes examining the output there while you are executing browser actions will provide a clue about what is occurring.

You can find some information about that in this KB article from Atlassian:
