So, I have just started trying to use the Jira Release with Build functionality, and I was very surprised to find that it only showed 5 builds in the list of builds to select, and with no way to select any other build.
It does let me select a Build Plan, and then shows 5 recent builds from that plan, but it doesn't allow me to pick a branch, or pick an arbitrary build.
There is a workaround however, you can edit the HTML value for one of the entries, and put in the desired build identifier, and then select the modified entry and proceed as normal, and it will trigger the build you want, but this is a bit cumbersome and unintuitive for most.
In our case, and I suspect many others, we have multiple branches going at once, usually one for development, and one for the most recent release (and in some cases possibly two recent releases).
While maybe some people create new build plans for each, I don't think this necessarily makes sense, but I suppose it could be another approach.
Also, why limit to 5 builds? Why can I not search for any build as I can when deploying a build within Bamboo?
As far as I can tell, without the workaround of editing the values, I don't see how this functionality can be useful.
Question: Am I using this in an unintended way, or is it just severely limited in its usefulness to the point of not being very useful.
Thanks,
Robert
Worked with the Support Team on this and there is no workaround other than the one I am using at the moment. A feature request has been filed at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-20530 (so vote for it if you want this functionality).
