On occasion, when I or someone else creates a ticket, it is hidden and Jira gives a notification that it is hidden when created. I do not consciously select anything that makes it hidden and the only way I can find these tickets is if I click a link to the ticket directly through an email.
This occurs when I create a ticket at the bottom of the backlog. I do not do anything differently when Jira hides tickets and when it doesn't.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you’re getting that message when you create an issue from the board view it is most likely due to the fact that the board filter is filtering out that specific issue. This happens when some parameter associated with the issue you just created is not included by the filter itself.
A board filter makes sense, but does not solve my problem with how I avoid/get around it? If I refresh the page, the "hidden" ticket shows up in the backlog (every time).
When I create the ticket, all I do is type in the "Create Issue" field at the bottom of the backlog and it is a solid 50/50 chance if it hides it or if it automatically is visible in the backlog. I am not changing any settings or filters. Again, all I am doing is typing in the name of the ticket.

So I’m not seeing this and I can’t quite follow why it might be happening to you based on what you’re saying. My best advice would be to contact Atlassian support directly and see if they can login and observe what you are seeing. I can understand why a refresh might be required to make a new issue up here. But unsure why you’re getting a 50-50 observance.

Hi @Bryn Wiragh,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
The reason you the get notification that the created issue is hidden is because the filter on the board you are on may filter out the issue type you are using, or the initial status that the new issue is in has not been mapped to one of the columns on the board.
