Why are items which have not been completed or worked on appearing in the completed issues list?

Ben Cresswell September 11, 2020

We have just started a new sprint and some items from the backlog and another custom column are appearing in the completed issues list on the burndown. (see below)

How does Jira determine what goes into this list and is there a way to remove them as the burndown graph is now incorrect?

The burndown is worked out on the basis of what issues are done and what is not.

An issue is done when it is in the last (rightmost) column on the board.

I suspect your burndown is actually correct if you look at the board columns.

Thats what I have read elsewhere but we have Done as the last column which two of the items above have never been in.

Columns order:

  • Sprint Backlog
  • WIP
  • PR
  • QA/UAT
  • Ready for Release
  • Done

I think we need to see your board to help you with this.  Jira's "last column" thing is very blunt and simple, and should not be doing what you are seeing.
