We plan on installing JIRA Software for 100 users and I'm wondering what limitations the free SQL db's have over using MS SQL 2017 (which is expensive).

If we put the main instance on Linux and then connect it to a PostgreSQL or MySQL server that is external to it?

Just curious if this way supports 100 users and what the limitations would be.

Hi Gary, welcome to the Community!

Any major DBMS will work well with Jira, including: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Azure SQL, and MS SQL. We've got a list of these as well as which versions of them are currently supported in the databases section of our "Supported Platforms" page for Jira .

There won't be limitations in using either MySQL or PostgreSQL - just be sure to follow the documentation for getting set up with either of those two databases (which would also be the case for MS SQL and Oracle):

Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel that was what I read as well but wanted to verify since some of the DB systems to have table size limitations and such.

Thanks!
