It seems like as of January 2026 this feature is no longer available in my project. Is there a way to add it back?
Hello @mmeskill
Are you not able to click on the color block next to the Epic Summary to change the color?

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,
Epic created in January 2026 are no longer showing color blocks so I am not able to use these to change the epic color.

If you hover in the area where the color block normally appears do you get the epic color text shown in my image?
Do other users have the same experience as you?
Is this limited to just this one project, just Team Managed projects, or all projects, or all Epics created since the start of 2026?
Have you tried a different browser app?

@Trudy Claspill , I only have access to team-managed projects, so that was why I asked if this was being removed for team-managed projects.
I've seen several posts that epic color is being deprecated. The post below is from you, I think? Am I conflating two separate features?
In Team Managed project the Epic Color field is not used. That field was only used in Company Managed projects, and is now in the process of being deprecated anyhow.
When you say this "tag I can't see on the first view", to what view are you referring?
Also, what type of field is that "tag" field you are using?

Hello @mmeskill
Can you provide a link to that post? I have many answers posted in the community over the past dozen years, and there is not a method to search for a specific answer. The information may be outdated or you may be taking it out of the context of the post where it occurs. The link you provided under my name is to my profile, not the individual post.
While the specific field named "Epic Color" may be deprecated, that doesn't necessarily mean that the ability to set a color for an Epic is being removed. My comment may have been a reference to this article that talks about deprecating the "Epic Color" field in favor of using the more generic "Issue Color" field.
I have not seen any recent posts from Atlassian about removing the ability to set a color on an Epic in Team Managed projects.
Can you provide a screen image of one of these Epics where you can't set a color, with your mouse pointer hovering just to the left of he Summary text where the color block would normally show, as seen in my image?
Do you have older Epics in the same project where the color has been set? If so, can you provide a screen image of one of them?
Can you access the Space Settings > Work Types, and provide a screen image showing the work type hierarchy? Example:
Do other users have the same experience as you in the same or other Team Managed projects?
Is this limited to just this one project, or all Team Managed projects to which you have access?
Is it affecting all Epics created since the start of 2026? Does it affect Epics created prior to Jan. 2026?
Have you tried a different browser app?

Hey @mmeskill
Good day!
This is working as expected, as @Trudy Claspill pointed out.
I see that you're on a paid plan, so please create a support ticket if the problem persists.
Regards,
Karan

@Karan Sachdev , the problem persists. There are no color blocks showing when I create a new epic or when I open an epic created in Jan 2026. The color blocks have vanished.
