When will Team-managed projects support Epic and Child relationships across different projects?

As the Program Manager for multiple groups that have their own jira projects, I want to create an Epic in Project A and want some of the child issues to be in Project B. 

Just linking the issues from project B to the Epic in project A is extra steps and does not properly support the Epic's progress bar.
