When is JIRA sever going to remove username and add API Token like JIRA cloud?

Hassan Saad September 28, 2018

I still can see username in my self-hosted JIRA server Jira v7.12.1

I know that username is hidden in JIRA cloud right now, in a step of removing it completely and make basic auth only by email and token.

So I am wondering if JIRA server also going to do the same.. and when, please?

if not, Is that mean the JIRA servers are going to use username/password for basic auth forever?

Thanks

Hi Hassan,

The changes that happened on Cloud was due to GDPR and currently, there is no information if someday it will be applied to Server.

The login structure is different on Server, so it's not necessary to implement Atlassian account and remove usernames since the server is on your company where you can protect and decide how to protect your users and customers information.
