Hi Steen,

When I do a query I put in the clause Order By the field I want the results to be ordered in. but the results dont appear in that order. it appears quite random.

I also have a custom field and it does not work on that too.

Any idea why?

Hi @Solomon Victor

I understand that you're using JQL in Jira to try to order issues by a field, but this is not working as expected.  I'd like to learn more about exactly where you see this and the results in question.   Perhaps a screenshot of your JQL search parameters here might be helpful to understand more about this.

For example, I know that some fields might not sort by the order always expected. I know that labels frequently confuse users in the sorting because the field is not just a single value, but rather it's an array that can have lots of different values.  To sort by an array value is ambiguous when compared to a single field value that you might find in other fields.  So in short the field type matters a lot here.  Could you let us know more about your field here?

It might also help to see the results here, if you're comfortable sharing these of course.

Please let us know.

Andy
