What will happen if jira server license is expired?
Can we able to do migration and all other activities?
Hello @mallikarjun_tech1993
If you have a Jira Server license (vs. a Jira Data Center license) you can keep using the Jira Server environment after the license expires. You will no longer be able to get support from Atlassian for that environment, nor upgrades without purchasing a new license. Since Jira Server licenses are no longer being sold, you would have to convert to a Jira Data Center license.
As per this document the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant application is supported only for Jira 7.6 and newer. I see that you indicated you have Jira 7.4.6. You would not be able to use the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant to migrate your data to the Cloud. You would have to look at the other migration methods that are available, or buy a new license and upgrade to a version supported by JCMA.
Hi Trudy,
Thanks for your reply
We are planning to migrate to Jira Data center .
If jira server license is expired then also can we able to migrate to data center.

To migrate to Jira Data Center you will have to buy a license for Jira Data Center.
Are you planning to install Jira Data Center on a new host, or just apply the Jira Data Center license to your current Jira Server host?

Hi @mallikarjun_tech1993 - Jira Server license is perpetual hence will keep on running with all the features available however you will not be eligible for any support or new version/security patches released by Atlassian.
Whether you are migrating to Cloud or upgrading to DC it is always recommended to have an active subscription inorder to reduce the complexities arising in the process.
