What is the status of the Field Scheme rollout?

I saw that the rollout of the new Field Scheme model began around June 10. I have yet to see the new interface on our admin screens. Is there any status as to when the rollout will be completed?  I am in the middle of a redesign for compliance purposes. I need to document the config changes. I've been holding off implementing so as not to have to do the Field config a second time.  Any details are appreciated.

Are you referring to the announcement about only 700 custom fields allowed?

They started it because I am seeing it in some sites.

I'm referring to the simplification of the Field constructs. My understanding is that Field Configurations and Field Configuration Schemes are being migrated into a more simplified Field Scheme model. Supposedly an automatic migration is underway to convert the existing field model to the new one and that we will know it's complete when the Field Config and Config Scheme links disappear from the Admin screen and are replaced by a Field Scheme link.
