Many times we need to create a technical task for a User Story. I wish we could assign a task to a User Story. The only way I know to do this is by linking to the two, which means updating and moving both tickets across the board individually. We also use Sub-Tasks but that seems like it's taking it to a level lower than it needs to be. Is there a better way to do this?
Linking work items is the way to go. When you say moving both items across the board, are you looking for a way of when you change the status of the user story to also set the same status for the linked task? If so then this can easily be done by using automation. Same thing applies to updating the work item, via automation you can make that update on the linked work item as well.
