Thank you in advance.

Hello @arti_b_patil

In Jira Cloud, a Component is basically a project-level bucket you assign to issues to show which part of the product/service the ticket belongs to (module/area/team), like UI, API, Billing, etc.

Important part (and why it’s different from “just a field name”):

Components is a standard Jira field/feature, not a custom field you created.

Components are defined per project (you maintain the component list in the project settings).

They’re used for grouping + reporting + routing work (and you can even set a component lead / default assignee if you want).

So in certification terms: think of Components as a clean way to categorize work inside a project  not a random custom field that happens to be named “component”.

Good luck with your Exam and learning 🙂
