What happen to epics after closing a sprint?

Once you close a sprint in Jira and start a new one: what happens with the epics from the previous sprint that contains also open tasks and subtasks. Will the epics get carried over to the new sprint or stay in the previous sprint? So, when does an epic get carried over to the next sprint and in which instances does this not happen. And what happens to epics that are not assigned to any sprint, once you close an old sprint?

Hi @Shazia Khan and welcome to the Community!  Epics aren't normally associated with a Sprint.  They are considered large Stories that typically span multiple sprints (and/or teams, projects).  You can find some more information here.  HTH
