I'm trying to get more out of Jira automations and looking for inspiration. I've only been using basic stuff like auto-assigning issues and sending notifications.
What actions have you found most useful in your day-to-day? Any hidden gems worth knowing about?

In addition to the things you mention, I use it for calculating values for fields (like summing up the numbers in multiple fields into a single field), getting lists of work items (using lookup values), auto transitioning work items based on certain criteria, etc.

Golden rule: use automation for anything that would be painful to maintain manually or that involves repetitive tasks.

I have used automation for a lot of different scenarios, for example for promotion and relocation approvals, assigning tickets to specific teams, onboarding and off-boarding, getting data about the user from Okta, assign tickets based on on-call schedule in Operations just to mention a few.
