What Jira site permissions or roles are required for a user to authorise a third-party OAuth app?

Hi Team, 

When trying to connect Glean to Jira via OAuth, an "Access denied" error appears on the Atlassian page, saying the app doesn't have access to the Jira & Jira Service Management site.

Key detail: Direct Jira access works fine with the corporate SSO account — so it's not a general Jira permission issue, but specifically an OAuth app authorisation being blocked.

 

Do you happen to know I can authorize this integration in glean?

The steps your Org Admin has to follow through as of 9th June 2026 are:

Admin.atlassian.com -> look into the left Sidebar under your instance name -> Security -> User security -> Authentication policies
