Was there a new Jira release not allowing bugs to convert to other issue types recently?

All of a sudden yesterday I can no longer change bugs to stories on my boards.  Has anyone else found this?

It sounds as if you're suing the "new" issue view, which doesn't have that functionality. On a per ticket basis, you can click on the See the old view link at the top, which temporarily reverts the view to the "old" one, where you can change it. Alternatively, click  on your avatar (bottom left), click on Personal settings then scroll down to Jira labs. There you can switch off the new view on a more permanent basis
