Users cannot select data in custom field

Hi there,

Do you know how to resolve the below?

We have a VMO user group. This group has 6 users in it.

3 of the users are not having any issues, but 3 of the users cannot see anything when they click into that custom field - see image below.

We tried to have them clear cache and cookies. We tried to remove them from the group and re-add them.

The VMO user group is setup with perms to Browse Projects and to edit issues.

The VMO user group IS excluded from anyone in that group being selected as data for that custom field as we do not want those users peer reviewing work.

Hi Natalie,

Thanks for using Community!

What type of custom field is this?  I believe it is a user picker field (either single or multi), if so, the users would need to have the 'Browse Users and Groups' Global Permission as well.

Do the users that are not able to select users from the drop down have that Global Permission?

Best,
Andy

Hi Natalie,

Just to verify - is this a Jira Software space? Or Jira Service Management space?

And can the user select people in another People picker field that is not tied to a group?

Hello @Natalie Cotela ,

Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :) For a user, lets say user A, to be able to search other users on a user picker field, user A should have global permission: Browse user and groups.

  • You can navigate to your site -> Settings -> System -> Global permission -> Scroll down and you would see Browse users and group.

  • Check which groups are added and if your concerned user A is a part of that group
  • If not, add the user A to that group
  • Or scroll down, you will see Grant Permission section, there add the user and the group that those users are part of and add

Please try and let us know.

Thank you
