Hello,
I have a customer who still sees their field in Field Editor after it was removed by Jira Global Admin from the project. Any way to remedy this?
Hi @Z H and welcome to the community!
Can you please be more specific about how "it was removed by Jira Global Admin from the project"? Was it removed from the field configuration, screen, etc.?
Hi @Mark Segall Many Thanks for the warm welcome!
So the user had requested that a field be removed from the Custom Field context. It was removed from the screen and also entirely from the project as it was requested.
Checked the whole project and do not see the field anywhere.
However, on the user end they're seeing that field appearing when they check Customfield Editor>Field Editor and next to it says "no context present".
Hope that clarified what I was asking and apologies for any confusion.
Again, many thanks for your assistance.
Best,
Zahin

Are you by any chance using the Customfield Editor for Jira?

Ah, then it looks like you are on the Server or DC version?
That area is the Server Admin area and if you have not deleted the custom field it will show up in that list since the object still exist in the database.
The "no context present" means that it is not connected to any project and you should see 0 screens afterwards as well?
If it is not attached to any screen or context, then you can delete the field if you no longer need the data that is in it.

Jimi,
I'm using the server version.
So the custom field is attached to one project and 3 screens, so that's where I run into the issue of not able to delete it. Is there a workaround? None of the screens are connected to the project and are separate.

If it is still in use, then you will see it there always.
As long as the client has access to the System Admin sections, the client will always see all fields, regardless of which fields are attached to the client's project or not.
There is no way to hide the fields in system admin.
Your options are to explain to the client what the client is seeing in the system admin section, or remove the client from the system admin section, so the client only see the projects the client is allowed to see.
