I have an Admin user that is adding users to their project using the email address. Unfortunately the username in the project does not match that which is in the Users directory. This is causing major issues when attempting to log in and view projects

Can anyone advise me of what this is?UserDirectory.PNGProjectUserName.PNG

Hi @Tristan Jarvis,

Atlassian is making a number of changes to our products and APIs in order to improve user privacy in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  Atlassian accounts use the email address as the unique identifier, so usernames are a redundant and unnecessary field in user profiles.

Please see the article Say goodbye to usernames in Atlassian Cloud for reference.

Thanks for the quick response.

My current issue is that the people set up like the above still have the user name in the Application access users file (the first image) but not in the project file (the second image). Unfortunately when they log in They get a message that they cannot view the project they are assigned to (in fact the user file does not even register they have logged in)

Any ideas?

Hi @Tristan Jarvis,

If the users are unable to access the projects then it might be due to the permission scheme of the project, you may need to check if the user has browse project permission on the project level in order to see the issues inside the project. Please check what level of application access is provided to the user, if the user has only service desk application access and trying to access a JIRA Software project they might not be able to access the project.

Please see the below pages Manage application access and Project permissions for your reference.

Regards,

Vijay Ramamurthy
