Hello,
we are currently considering whether we should integrate Jira into our company. I am currently testing a bit and have a question:
We have several different teams - e.g. marketing, development team 1 for one part of the software, development team 2 for another part of the software, etc.
If I now create an epic in the project of "development team 1", I can link all user stories and bugs in the same project to this epic. But now it is the case that development team 2 also has a few user stories that belong to that certain epic. But I can't find the epic in the second project as it was created in project 1.
So the question is: How can I use the same epics across projects?
Best regards
As @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ is rights you do need to use Company managed projects for this setup, not team managed projects as they are stand alone container projects.
See documentation here
You can link issues from multiple projects to one Epic. The users will need View and Edit permissions in the Epic's project though.
Sometimes the Search for Epics in the Parent field isn't great so try typing the Issue Key in and save, even if the title isn't suggested.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
At the moment I am still alone in Jira as a user because I want to test it first and configure a few things before I show it to the team.
So I'm admin - but still, when I'm in the second project and open a user story, I can't see the epic from the first project!
Can you describe exactly how I do this with the rights?

If you're the admin you don't need to worry about permissions just now.
Go into any issue from the other project, click in the "Parent" field, search for your Epic. If nothing pops up, type in the Issue Key (that's the unique ID in format ABC-123) of your Epic and click outside the field to save.

Unfortunately, it does not work. The following situation:
In the project "Dev" I have created some tickets and an epic with the name "Redesign" - in Jira the epic is technically named "Dev-6". If I now open a ticket and search for "Redesign" or "Dev-6" in the parent field, it is also displayed and I can select and link it.
However, if I now switch to the "Marketing" project and create a user story there and click on the parent field, I can find neither "Redesign" nor "Dev-6". Even if I enter it and press Enter, it is not there afterwards....

hello , I have similar issue, two projects had similar permissions, both setup as Company managed projects . Still cannot update story with parent Epic from other project, even while adding ID. Please advise what may be an issue

I cannot replicate the issue when testing this with 2 Company managed projects with full permissions.
